Resiblock’s extensive range of sealants can be used across a wide range of residential, commercial or industrial paving applications. Whether you need to apply this to your patio, driveway, warehouse floor or carpark, you can be assured that we supply the perfect block paving sealant for your needs.

If you’re wondering how durable block paving sealant is, and how often you might need to repair the surface of your installation, follow this informative guide before application.

Five Years Durability

Even though our Resiblock paving sealant is incredibly easy to apply as a one-coat formula, we understand that you may not have the time to regularly maintain the surface of your installation. That’s why we’re so proud that our Resiblock block sealers provide up to five years of durability. Invest time in the application of your block paving sealant now and you will only need to consider light seasonal washing to keep the surface clean. How about that for low maintenance? Your choice of sealer will provide protection from a variety of natural problems.

Block Paving Sealant With No Oil Stains Guarantee

Oil stains on your patio or driveway are common yet incredibly difficult to get rid of. If you want to avoid this unsightly disaster from appearing on your paving installation, then we recommend using our Resiblock Superior Natural Matt or Gloss products. Initially launched in 1993, these have fast become the preferred choice of paving sealer, not least because they are the only product in Europe to carry a no oil stains guarantee.

Fluid Damage

Aside from oil spills, which are 100% protected by our Resiblock Superior products, other types of fluid damage will usually downgrade the appearance of your paving installation too. From spilled drinks on a patio to leaking drains, any overflow of liquid onto your blocks can cause it to look unappealing. If you want to ensure that your paving installation looks stunning for years to come, then block paving sealant is the only way to guarantee against fluid damage.

Harsh Weather Conditions

The impact of strong weather conditions, throughout all seasons, will negatively affect the appearance and integrity of your paving installation if it is left unsealed. Rain and storms will saturate the block and cause a build-up of algae, moss or lichen which are unsightly and dangerous if they become slippery. Stormy weather can also cause debris to be blown onto the surface of any exterior paving, which can dent the blocks. However, it’s not just miserable weather that can impact unsealed paving. You’ll find that strong sunlight is just as damaging as it will rapidly fade the appearance of your blocks. All of these problems can be eradicated when you choose to apply a durable coat of block paving sealant shortly after installation.

Weeds In The Paving Cracks

If you’ve previously had unsealed paving, then you’ll know how frustrating it can be to constantly dig out weeds between the slabs. If you have a fresh installation, then you should be able to apply the paving sealant after following some thorough preparation work. But if you need to protect an existing blocks project, then we recommend using a jet washer to push out any weeds, foliage or other debris that has taken root in the cracks of your paving. Once the area is clear, you can then apply our Resiblock block paving sealant as instructed, safe in the knowledge that your hard work will last for as long as five years.

What preparation needs to be carried out before application?

The prep work for your block paving sealant application is all about cleaning the surface thoroughly beforehand. There shouldn’t be any dirt or debris visible on the blocks before the sealant is applied, which includes loose jointing sand between your pavers. Once the area has been cleaned and dried out completely, you can begin with your sealer application.

Once you’re armed with the right tools, which should include your preference of application roller, sponge or squeegee, then it’s extremely simple to apply your sealer. Work the product evenly into the surface area, ensuring there aren’t any pools of sealant building up. After covering the surface, leave your sealant to dry completely. It must be left for 24 hours before cars can go on the sealant, and for foot traffic you must wait around 4-6 hours for it to be dry enough.

It’s important to check the weather forecast before applying Resiblock’s paving sealant products, avoiding any downpour of rain. So long as the forecast is showing a minimum of 8 hours no rain, and you’re working with completely dry paving, then your application should go smoothly. However, you should also avoid any extreme temperatures, such as frost or scorching hot weather. Applying your block paving sealant when the temperature is between 3 to 30 degrees Celsius is favourable.
