The Site

To ease Oxfordshire’s housing woes, permission was granted in 2016 for the construction of Willowbrook Park in Didcot. The site consists of 1,880 homes, of which 470 are declared as ‘affordable housing’ in line with the Government’s Help to Buy Scheme.

The first phase of the planned development will see work begin on 173 of the homes along with transport improvements, drainage work and the installation of a large park including a kickabout area, formal gardens and wildflower meadows.

The Challenge

With CBP being installed on both the roadways and footpaths, Croudace Homes and South Oxfordshire District Council were keen to ensure that the expected high volume of trafficking would not lead to paver-destabilisation. Similarly, with pathways leading to a local park, clients were keen to ensure that the possibility of trip hazards associated with paver destabilisation were eradicated.

The Solution

For South Oxfordshire District Council, the answer literally could be found on their own doorstep. South Oxfordshire DC were able to view the success of Resiblock ’22’ first-hand, with the product having been specified and installed at ‘The Greenway’ Housing Development just 1.9 miles away. Its success left the Council in no doubt and they subsequently specified for the Mersey Way project.
