Portland Hospital, London

Problem:

Portland Hospital, the London based children’s hospital that has seen the likes of Victoria Beckham, Patsy Kensit, and Claudia Schiffer, amongst others, gracing the wards to give birth. The newly laid paving had a problem with sand removal due to trafficking and cleaning of the surface and Neil Hartland wanted to protect the paving from chewing gum and oil stains.

Solution:

Resiblock Resiecco was used as it is an environmentally friendly product which was perfect for the paving as a significant amount of the paving was undercover so using a solvent based sealant could have posed a problem. The product was easily applied to the paving by the on-site contractors leaving the paving in the main entrance of the hospital looking as good as the hospital itself.

Benefits:

Resiblock Resiecco was used as a two coat system, sealing the sand joints completely (but leaving the joints with the same flexibility) the second coat was utilised to prevent fuel infiltration and staining on the paving.

Resiblock Resiecco:

  • Significantly reduces staining by food and drink
  • Prevents fuel infiltration
  • Virtually eliminates residual staining of chewing gum oils.
  • Inhibits the growth of weeds and grass in the joints
  • Solvent-free environmentally-friendly.
