Melandra Crescent, Hattersley

The Site:
Hattersley Central is a project that has ran within Hyde since 2022, providing affordable housing throughout 4 sites around the main focal point of Melandra Crescent. The scheme, which encompasses 4 brownfield sites, will see Onward deliver 161 new affordable homes in Tameside, as well as a 91-apartment care facility.
The Challenge:
Following completion of the latter stages of Hattersley Central, Resiblock were contacted to discuss paving stabilisation of 1,100m2 of mixed Concrete Block Paving and Aggregate-Topped Block paving which formed pedestrianised areas and driveways in both the housing development and care-home project. Onward, and contractor Rowlinson Construction, were keen to ensure that paving would not fail due to joint loss and water ingress from both vehicular and footfall traffic.
The Solution:
Following discussions, Resiblock ‘22’ A.F was specified for stabilisation of the sand joints. The product can be used on multiple types of paving, including aggregate-topped concrete blocks, ensuring that Rowlinson only need to utilise the one product through out the area.
Resiblock were able to showcase the longevity of the Resiblock ‘22’ A.F, particularly in the specialist aggregate-topped blocks, with sealing works at Maidstone Public Realm, which had been in situ since 2018 and had not required any further sealing works.
