Disneyland Hong Kong (Lan Tau) Island
Problem
The Walt Disney Corporation wished to impose fastidious cleaning regimes in connection with the 125,000m² of small element flexibly laid paving. The client was concerned that such cleaning regimes would dislodge the jointing sand requiring significant increased maintenance to maintain structural stability. In addition it was recognised by the client that constant sand erosion from the paver joint would ultimately lead to paver de-stabilisation in turn potentially leading to tripping hazards.
Solution:
Resiblock Ultra Matt was selected from the Resiblock range of products for its ability to bind the jointing sand whilst demonstrating sufficient elastomeric properties allowing energy to dissipate through the paving as a result of the significant pedestrianised and vehicular trafficking.
Resiblock Ultra Matt Benefits:
The Walt Disney Corporation recognised a number of key benefits suited to this particular environment namely that:
- Resists oil and diesel stains
- Significantly reduces staining by food and drink
- UV Stable
- Virtually eliminates residual staining by chewing gum oils
- Inhibits the growth of weeds and grass in joints
