Market Place, Pocklington

The Site:

Following consultations in 2024, East Riding of Yorkshire Council completed plans for the creation of a small public square, with a flexible event space, to surround the Jubilee Monument at Market Place in Pocklington.

Feedback on the plans led to the installation of larger paved areas to connect the square with the wider marketplace.

The Challenge:

With the use of mixed paving throughout the area, both the client and contractor were keen for a single sealing solution that could provide joint stabilisation, ensuring that the pavements were protected under the weight of anticipated footfall traffic, especially outside of business premises.

The Solution:

Following consultations, Resiblock Resiecco was specified for use. Resiblock were able to showcase how Resiecco had been used in similar environments, where mixed paving had been used throughout, at Southwick Square in Brighton and Danagoor Plaza, London.

Resiecco binds the sand joints to ensure paver stabilisation, even against the heaviest of football traffic, as seen from sealing works at London’s 02 Arena. Pocklington, and its Market Place, now benefit from the same sealing technology, giving East Riding Council the confidence of Asset Protection.

Benefits at a Glance:

  • Prevents jointing sand loss from cleaning regimes & heavy footfall
  • Significantly reduces staining by food and drink
  • Virtually eliminates residual staining by chewing gum oils
  • Inhibits the growth of weeds and grass in joints
  • Environmentally friendly – solvent free
