Application Summary
Quick-reference checklist of key requirements before and during application
-
1Ensure surface and jointing sand are thoroughly dry and clean
Paving containing dampness will significantly reduce joint penetration and prevent Resiblock Trade from mechanically bonding to the paver surface. Joints should be filled or topped up to the bottom of the chamfer with clean, dry, compacted sand of the correct specification.
-
2Check weather — no rain within the next 24 hours
Do not apply if rain is forecast within 24 hours, or in temperatures below 5°C or above 30°C. Protect from frost — do not allow the product to freeze.
-
3Sweep paving thoroughly
Ensure paving is thoroughly swept and no jointing sand remains in the chamfers. On non-chamfered paving, sand must be swept at least 3–5mm from the surface.
-
4Stir contents well before use
Resiblock Trade contains micronised particles that produce an opaque appearance when wet. Stir thoroughly to ensure a uniform mix before application.
-
5Apply by watering can with rose, then squeegee off surplus
Apply using a watering can with a fine rose attached. Leave to sit on the surface for 2–3 minutes, then remove all surplus with the Resiblock Squeegee. Work the product into the joints for maximum penetration. Ensure the surface is evenly coated. On riven surfaces, remove product from depressions with a clean rag or sponge to prevent pooling.
-
6Restrict access until surface is dry and joints have hardened
Avoid walking on the sealed area until the surface is dry. Do not drive motor vehicles on the surface until the joints have hardened. Surface should be dry in approximately 4–8 hours depending on weather conditions.
-
7Clean all tools immediately with water and detergent
All uncured sealant and tools must be cleaned immediately using water and detergent. Clean any accidental spills and splashes immediately with a clean damp cloth.

Coverage rates vary by paving type: 1.8–2.2 m² per litre for concrete and clay block paving; 2.2–4 m² per litre for flag paving. For standard concrete block paving 100mm x 200mm, a typical rate of 1 litre per 2 m² applies. Accurate application rates are critical to ensure full joint stabilisation. If in doubt contact Resiblock Technical on 01268 273344.
Resiblock Trade contains micronised particles that produce an opaque, milky appearance when wet but will be clear when dry. A trial area is recommended where the appearance of the treated surface is of particular importance, and to confirm that the paving is sufficiently porous to absorb the product evenly without leaving a surface film.
-
1Pressure clean to remove all algae, lichen, weeds and dirt
Thoroughly clean using a pressure cleaner to remove all algae, lichen, weeds, grass, food and drink stains, and surface dirt. This will also blast out most of the top layer of jointing sand from between the blocks.
-
2Allow to thoroughly dry, then re-fill joints with kiln-dried sand
Once the substrate has thoroughly dried, re-fill joints using kiln-dried sand. Place fine kiln-dried jointing sand on the drive and sweep into the joints using a soft broom, ideally on the same day the area is to be sealed.
-
3Sweep thoroughly — remove all surplus sand from chamfers
Thoroughly sweep the paving to remove all surplus kiln-dried sand from the paver surface. Ensure no jointing sand remains in the chamfers. On non-chamfered paving, sand must be swept at least 3–5mm from the surface.
-
1Stir contents well
Thoroughly stir the contents of the container before use to ensure a uniform, well-mixed product.
-
2Apply using a watering can with a fine rose attached
Apply to the surface using a watering can with a fine rose attached, drawing the sealer across the surface of the blocks and into the sand-filled joints. Ensure sand-filled joints are fully flooded with Resiblock Trade. Ensure the surface is evenly coated.
-
3Leave 2–3 minutes, then squeegee off all surplus
Leave the product to sit on the surface for 2–3 minutes, then remove all surplus with the Resiblock Squeegee. Work the product into the joints for maximum penetration. On riven surfaces, ensure product is removed from all dips and depressions using a clean rag or sponge to prevent pooling.
Curing commences immediately. The surface should be dry after approximately 4–8 hours depending on weather conditions. Drying time is dependent on ambient conditions resulting in water evaporation — cooler or humid conditions will extend drying time. Avoid walking on the sealed area until the surface is dry, and do not drive motor vehicles on the surface until the joints have hardened.
