Application Summary

Quick-reference checklist of key requirements before and during application

Suitable Surfaces Only Resiblock Indian Sandstone Sealer Invisible is suitable for use on Indian Sandstone, Sandstone, Yorkstone, Limestone and other forms of Natural Stone. For stone types not listed, contact Resiblock's Technical Department before use. Not suitable for: PIC, Engineering Bricks, Quarry Tiles, Marble, Slate, Pattern Imprinted Concrete or Exposed Aggregate Panels.
This product is NOT a sand stabiliser. It will seal and protect the paver surface but will not bond jointing sand. Where sand-filled joints are present, avoid applying product directly to the joint — or increase coverage rate to 2–3 m² per litre to account for absorption.
Apply to new paving after an initial 8 weeks and to refurbished paving after a minimum of 2 weeks following cleaning. Remove any efflorescence with Resiblock E.R. before sealing. A single coat is standard — a second coat is not normally recommended and may darken the paving.

At-a-Glance Checklist
  1. 1
Confirm surface is thoroughly dry and clean

Surface and any jointing sand must be completely dry and free from dirt, oil, algae, dust and lime bloom. To check: scrape jointing sand to a depth of 5–10mm — if the sand is dry, so is the paving.

  2. 2
    Check weather conditions

Do not apply if rain is forecast within 8 hours, or in temperatures below 3°C or above 30°C. For temperatures outside this range, contact Resiblock's application department for special procedures.

  3. 3
    Sweep paving thoroughly

Ensure paving is thoroughly swept. Where applicable, ensure no jointing sand remains in the chamfers of the pavers.

  4. 4
Apply with a Resiblock application roller

Apply to the surface using a Resiblock application roller. Remove any build-up in depressions with a clean roller or builder's sponge. Coverage: 4–6 m² per litre depending on porosity. Increase to 2–3 m² per litre where sand-filled joints are present.

  5. 5
    Restrict access during cure

No foot traffic for 3 hours after application. Do not allow full vehicle traffic for 24 hours — full chemical cure must take place before the surface is subjected to full traffic use.

  6. 6
Clean all tools immediately with RESICLEAN

All uncured sealant and tools must be cleaned immediately using RESICLEAN only. Do not use other solvents.

Coverage

Application rates vary depending on the porosity of the stone. On Indian Sandstone, Sandstone, Yorkstone and Limestone, 4–6 m² per litre can be expected. Where the paving has a sand-filled joint (nominal 5mm), material usage should be increased to 2–3 m² per litre. For stone types other than those listed, contact Resiblock's Technical Department on 01268 273344 before proceeding.

Important: Resiblock Indian Sandstone Sealer Invisible is NOT a sand binder. It seals the stone surface only. Where sand-filled joints are present, avoid applying directly to the joint where possible.
Appearance

In the container the product appears as a low viscosity clear liquid with a hydrocarbon odour. Application will not alter the appearance of the pavers upon full cure — the finish is virtually undetectable.

Substrate & Surface Conditions

Max Temperature

New Paving Wait
8 Weeks
After Cleaning Wait
2 Weeks Min

The surface must be clean and free from oil, algae, dust and lime bloom. Substrate must be dry — application to damp or wet surfaces can result in poor adhesion and discolouration. Jointing sand containing moisture can prevent bonding. Do not use if rainfall is forecast within 8 hours of project completion. If pavers or joints have been previously treated with any other stabiliser or sealer, contact Resiblock's Technical Department prior to application.

Trade tip: To check if paving is perfectly dry, scrape out the jointing sand to a depth of 5–10mm. If the sand is dry, so is the paving.
If stored at temperatures below 10°C, the polymer may tend to settle out of the solvent. Ensure the contents of the container are thoroughly mixed before use.
Preparation — New Work

On new work, a thorough sweep with a stiff broom is usually sufficient. If the surface has become partially weathered or contaminated, the area must be thoroughly pressure washed. Application to poorly prepared paving — particularly regarding dampness — can result in discolouration and disbonding.

Preparation — Old/Refurbished Work

Thoroughly clean using a pressure cleaner to remove all algae, lichen, weeds and surface dirt. Allow at least 2 weeks between cleaning and application to allow the area to dry out fully and to check for lime-bloom reappearance.

Sand-Filled Joints — Additional Step

Once the substrate is thoroughly dry, re-fill any joints using kiln-dried sand. Place fine dried jointing sand onto the paving and sweep in using a soft broom. Completely remove all surplus sand before applying the sealer.

Equipment Required
Method of Application
  1. 1
Apply with a Resiblock application roller

Apply to the surface using a Resiblock application roller. Do not dilute the product. Apply at a rate of 4–6 m² per litre depending on porosity, or 2–3 m² per litre where sand-filled joints are present.

  2. 2
    Remove any build-up in depressions

Remove any build-up of product in low-lying areas or depressions using a clean roller or builder's sponge. Excess product left to pool in depressions may cause a white/milky residue as solvents are released during cure.

If the product is applied too thickly, the substrate is damp, or conditions are excessively cold, bubbling may occur giving the appearance of a white/milky residue. A second coat is not normally recommended and may serve to darken the paving. Call 01268 273344 for advice before applying a second coat.

Once Surface Dry

After 24 Hours
Efflorescence (Lime Bloom)

Efflorescence can appear as white powdery patches before application, or creamish patches after. Steps to reduce the risk:

  1. Apply after a dry spell of at least 48 hours and verify the entire paved area is dry by checking the sand joints.
  2. Allow 8 weeks after paving installation before applying. Allow at least 2 weeks after washing/pressure cleaning of old installations.
  3. If lime bloom appears before sealing, clean with Resiblock E.R. (efflorescence remover).
  4. If in doubt, contact the Resiblock technical department before proceeding.
Cleaning Tools & Equipment

Resiblock Indian Sandstone Sealer Invisible cures rapidly on exposure to atmospheric moisture. Clean all equipment immediately using RESICLEAN only. Do not use other solvents. Wash with water and detergent afterwards. RESICLEAN is also effective for removing splashes and spillages of uncured sealer.

Do not return unused material to original containers. Do not reseal or store partly used kegs — Carbon Dioxide may generate and put the drum under pressure, which might rupture it. Any remaining traces in used drums must be cured by leaving containers open and, in dry conditions, adding water to each container.
Health & Safety
PVC gloves & protective clothing
Face shield must be worn
Barrier cream on exposed skin
No smoking or naked flames
Ensure good ventilation
Mask essential near surface or internally (Sabre or Martindale recommended)
Do not apply near foodstuffs
Always refer to current Safety Data Sheets
Resiblock Indian Sandstone Sealer Invisible is FLAMMABLE. Flash point 44°C. No smoking or naked flames to be allowed. Where public access is permitted, erect NO SMOKING signs and site fire extinguishers. Do not clean hands with RESICLEAN — solvents may de-fat skin leading to dermatological problems.
