Application Summary

Quick-reference checklist of key requirements before and during application

Solvent-free and environmentally friendly. Resiecco is water-based, not flammable, safe for internal use, and gives off no unpleasant odours. Tools clean with water and detergent — no specialist solvents required.
Important Restrictions Resiecco cannot be used on any previously sealed surfaces. On some surfaces (particularly low porosity or wet-cast products) it may in certain circumstances temporarily reduce the SRV — always trial on an un-trafficked area first to confirm suitability.
Steps 1 to 4 must be completed on the same day. On new projects, seal with Resiecco simultaneously with pavement construction on a daily basis. Do not wait until the project is complete.
Resiecco is not much thicker than water and is easily applied using a watering can with a rose attached. It is usually applied as a single coat system. Accurate application rates are critical — for standard 100 x 200mm CBP, apply 1 litre evenly per 2 m², being a manageable amount to squeegee. Stir contents well before use.

At-a-Glance Checklist
  1. 1
    Compact as normal

Complete final compaction of the paving as normal. Ensure the surface and jointing sand are thoroughly dry and free from dirt — paving containing dampness will significantly reduce joint penetration.

  2. 2
Sweep thoroughly to remove surplus sand

Following final compaction, sweep the area thoroughly to remove surplus sand. Ensure jointing sand has been fully removed from the chamfer. On non-chamfered paving, sweep sand at least 3–5mm from the surface. Ensure both sand and paver are completely dry.

  3. 3
Stir contents well, then apply by watering can with rose

Stir the contents well. Resiecco is not much thicker than water and is easily applied using a watering can with a rose attached. For standard 100 x 200mm CBP, pour out 1 litre evenly over 2 m² — a manageable amount to squeegee. Ensure the rose is fitted.

  4. 4
Leave 2–3 minutes, then squeegee off surplus

Leave Resiecco to sit on the surface for 2–3 minutes, then remove all surplus with the RESIBLOCK SQUEEGEE, working from the top and always towards you. The product will pool in the chamfers/joints and be absorbed by the kiln-dried jointing sand. On riven surfaces, rub product into the surface with a clean rag to prevent pooling in depressions.

  5. 5
Clean all tools immediately with water and detergent

All uncured sealant and tools must be cleaned immediately using water and detergent. No specialist solvents required.

Coverage & Appearance

Coverage is 1.5–4.0 m² per litre depending on joint width and paver porosity. Accurate application rates are critical to ensure full joint stabilisation — typically 1 litre per 2 m² for 100 x 200mm CBP. For other dimensions contact Resiblock's Technical Department. Resiecco is usually applied as a single coat system.

Resiecco is whitish in liquid state but becomes clear when dry, giving a very low satin sheen finish that in most cases does not darken treated surfaces — protecting materials while retaining their original colour.

Surface Must Be
Thoroughly Dry

Make sure the surface and jointing sand are thoroughly dry and free from dirt. Paving containing dampness will significantly reduce joint penetration. Ensure paving is thoroughly swept and that no jointing sand remains in the chamfers of the pavers. On non-chamfered paving, sand must be swept at least 3–5mm from the surface.

Trade tip: To check if paving is perfectly dry, scrape out the jointing sand to a depth of 5–10mm. If the sand is dry, so are the blocks.
Resiecco cannot be used on any previously sealed surfaces. On some surfaces (particularly low porosity or wet-cast products) it may temporarily reduce the SRV — please trial on an un-trafficked area first to confirm suitability.
Equipment Required
Method of Application
  1. 1
    Stir contents well

Thoroughly stir the contents of the container before use to ensure a uniform, well-mixed product.

  2. 2
Apply by watering can with rose attached

Apply to the surface using a watering can with the rose attached. For standard 100 x 200mm CBP, pour out 1 litre evenly over 2 m² — a manageable amount to squeegee. Ensure the surface is evenly coated.

  3. 3
Leave 2–3 minutes, then squeegee off all surplus

Leave to sit on the surface for 2–3 minutes, then remove all surplus with the RESIBLOCK SQUEEGEE. Work the product into the joints for maximum penetration. If applying to a riven surface, rub Resiecco into the surface with a clean rag to prevent pooling in depressions.

Anti-slip: If necessary, a fine aggregate can be added between 2 coats to provide excellent grip characteristics. Contact Resiblock's Technical Department for guidance where enhanced slip resistance is required.

Drying
Ambient Dependent

Drying time is dependent on ambient conditions resulting in water evaporation — cooler or humid conditions will extend drying time. Avoid walking on the sealed area for 2–4 hours after application, and do not drive motor vehicles on the surface for approximately 72 hours until the joints have hardened.

Cleaning Tools & Equipment

All uncured sealant and tools should be cleaned immediately using water and detergent. As a solvent-free product, no specialist solvents are required. Clean any accidental spills and splashes immediately.

Health & Safety
PVC gloves & protective clothing
Face shield must be worn
